Eventually, it was time to go back to school and Taliya once more found herself in class, seated beside Yarden, and doing her best to listen to Gal. To Taliya’s pleasant surprise, Yarden seemed to be in good health. He was not sniffly at all. Perhaps the holiday vacation had done him well.
Each day was more of the same, and Taliya looked forward to lunch. Abba always prepared the most delicious sandwiches. Especially when they were chocolate. Taliya simply did not understand why she couldn’t eat chocolate at every meal. Chocolate was surely the most delicious, wonderful, and amazing food in the whole world.
Today’s sandwich, however, was cheese, cucumbers, and olives. Taliya did her best to eat it, thinking all the while of chocolate.
When she had finished eating, Taliya went outside to the playground and hurried across the school yard to find Yair. She wanted to make certain that her brother was alright and that his day was going well.
After lunch, it was more of the same, and Taliya waited until it was time to go home.
Daniel, whom everyone referred to as Dani the Astronaut, was making moaning sounds again, and squirming around in his desk, and it was not long before Gal ordered him out of the classroom. Funny as Dani was, Taliya was grateful to see him go.
Taliya did wonder, however, if perhaps Dani had devised a means of escape of his own.
