One afternoon, Taliya decided to pay another visit to Nona. Nona had recently undergone another operation to repair the cataracts in her other eye, and Taliya wanted very much to go and see her to make certain Nona was alright.
Taliya used a bit of the money from her jewelry business to purchase a dozen red roses and a bus ticket. She rode the bus to Rishon and walked the rest of the way to Nona’s house.
Nona answered the door, looked down, and saw Taliya holding the beautiful roses.
“For me?” Nona asked.
“Of course, Savta.”
Nona whisked Taliya inside and promptly set about preparing two nice mugs of hot chocolate, which she and Taliya enjoyed with several squares of chocolate. Ima said chocolate and hot chocolate together was too much, but Taliya disagreed. She found it to be a divine combination.
